Miriam stood alone, the ghost of a different time
She hobbled over the cobblestones, coloured lime
She heads for the garden to see the blue fountain of light
She hopes to see the flowers there
Her hopes rise every night
She knew a man from years before
he gave her flowers fair
She'd strewn them round the room back them
She had laced them through her hair
The love they shared felt powerful
And many times she couldn't bare the weight
She felt he was a rock for her, unwavering in his state
He said he'd leave the flowers in the garden where they walked
He they'd represent their dreams and the love they shared
Back then new flowers were brought
Every night she felt so secure
As the days passed through the eons she would see him no more
But the flowers would still be placed
Yellow lilies in pairs
Love was never found for her again, so she found some comfort there
Those years of finding lilies, her memory had to retrace
The disappointment of Miriam began
When the lilies ceased to be replaced
